COLOMBO : Mufti M.I.M. Rizwe was re-elected President of the All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama (ACJU) for the next 3 years at a meeting held here on Saturday, August 30.
The election of the new Executive Committee of the All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama (ACJU) for the next three years was held at the Wellawatte Jumu’ah Mosque.
Prior to conducting the election, the members of the outgoing Executive Committee convened and selected Ash-Shaikh M.H.M. Burhān as the temporary chairman, with Ash-Shaikh S.H.M. Ismail Salafi and Ash-Shaikh A.H. Ihsānudeen appointed as his assistants.
Subsequently, the Executive Committee which had been functioning from August 2022 to August 2025 was dissolved, and in accordance with the Constitution of the Jamiyyah, over 90 members of the General Council who were present elected a new 30-member Executive Committee for the next three years.
From among the 30 elected members, 11 were chosen to hold office-bearer positions:
1. Mufti M.I.M. Rizwe – Honorary President
2. Ash-Shaikh M. Arkam Nooramith – Honorary General Secretary
3. Ash-Shaikh M.K. Abdur Rahman – Honorary Treasurer
4. Ash-Shaikh M.J. Abdul Khaliq – Honorary Vice President
5. Ash-Shaikh H. Umardeen – Honorary Vice President
6. Ash-Shaikh I.L.M. Hashim Soori – Honorary Vice President
7. Ash-Shaikh A.L.M. Riza – Honorary Vice President
8. Ash-Shaikh M.H.M. Burhān – Honorary Vice President
9. Ash-Shaikh M.S.M. Thasim – Honorary Deputy Secretary
10. Ash-Shaikh N.R.M. Lareef – Honorary Deputy Secretary
11. Ash-Shaikh Dr. A.A. Ahmad Aswar – Honorary Deputy Treasurer
