COLOMBO: Parliamentarian Mujibur Rahman questioned the. government why a group of 16 Sri Lankan journalists were sent to Israel which has killed more than. 200 journalists in their. fight against Palestine in Gaza.
A group of journalists went to Tel Aviv on an invitation from the Israeli government. The Sri Lankan embassy in Israel and. the Israeli embassy in Nee Delhi coordinated the trip of. the journalists .
Rahman said it is a serious matter which can result in unhealthy developments within Sri Lanka .
In a hard-hitting. speech in parliament on Tuesday, September 9 , Rahman said that the. government has been supporting the Palestinians on one. side and on the other side. it is pampering Israeli interests in the. country.
He also pointed that among the journalists who went to Israel were officers from state institutions such as Rupavahini, Kotelawala Defense Academy ,some public relations officers from government. institutions and two notorious youtubers who can do more damage to the country.
He also pointed out that the government officers are making undue influence on sympathizers of Palestinian cause to discourage them and warn them Not to speak against Israelis
