COLOMBO: In coordination with the area people, Public Security Minister Sarath Weerasekera distributed dry rations among the affected fishermen in the Dehiwela area here on Saturday, July 10.
The event was sponsored by Shiyam Rizwan and Isuru Wijewardena in coordination with the area municipal councilor Sharina Mustaffa.
Speaking to Colombo Times, Dehiwela and Mount Lavinia Municipal Councilor,Sharina Mustafa said these packs were arranged by the philanthropist of the area under the guidance of Rizwan and Wijewardena. Under the program, some 125 families were benefited on Saturday.
The fishermen lost their living for a period of more than two weeks because of the recent fire caused in the X-Press Pearl vessel which was sunk in the Sri Lankan waters.
