COLOMBO – The Board of Management of the Ummu Zaviya Mosque organised the 124th Annual “Shamaailil Muhammadiya” ceremony to commemorate the birth of Prophet Muhammad. The event was held at the Ummu Zaviya Mosque in Colombo on Wednesday August 26.
The ceremony was held under the patronage of the Principal of Ajward Al-Fassy Arabic College, Kaleefathul Shazuli Al-Aalim Al-Haj Moulavi Ahmed Sufi (Mahlari).
President of the Board of Trustees Al-Haj Macky Hashim, members of the Board of Trustees, Ulamas, Muqqadams and Iqwans were among those who graced the Majlis.
Speaking on the occasion, Al Haj. Fawzan Anver, Chairman of the Religious Committee and former Ambassador of the State of Palestine, expressed his gratitude to Kaleefathul Shazuli Al-Aalim Al-Haj Moulavi Ahmed Sufi, President of the Board of Trustees Al-Haj Macky Hashim, members of the Board of Trustees and the SLBC Muslim Service for their support.
He said the ceremony would mark its 125th anniversary next year, adding that a commemorative stamp would be issued to mark the historic occasion in a grand manner.
Special Duha prayers were also conducted for peace, harmony and brotherhood in Sri Lanka and throughout the world.
