COLOMBO — The Department of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs in association with the Wellawatte Jumma Mosque had organized “ Holy Mihraj Night “ programme on Monday, February 28 at the Wellawatte Jumma Mosque.
It was held under the patronage of Department of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs Director Ibrahim Ansar.
In his brief speech, Ansar took the opportunity of thanking the government for the continuous support to celebrate the Islamic religious activities in the island. He thanked President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Premier Mahinda Rajapaksa for the invaluable contributions made to enable observances of religious activities from time to time on days of Islamic importance.
All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama Assistant Secretary Ash Sheikh Murshid Mulafer addressed the audience on the significance of Mihraj Night.
Prime Minister’s Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs Coordinator Ash Seyed Dr. Hassan Moulana and Ihsaniyyah Arabic College Principal Ash Sheikh M. F. M. Farood conducted prayers (duwa) in Sinhala and Tamil languages.
Iran Cultural Centre Cultural Counsellor Dr. B. Moazamil Goodarzi , Saudi Arabia Embassy Kalid Baker, Libyan Embassy Amar Muftha, Ministry of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs Coordinating Secretary Farzan Munsoor, Wellawatte Jumma Mosque Managing Trustee M. T. M. Ifthikar, Sri Lanka Muslim Media Forum President N. M. Ameen, Senior Officials of the Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs Department were also graced the ceremony.
