COLOMBO : The arrival of the sacred month of Muharram serves as a reminder for Muslims of both bitter and sweet memories, simultaneously.
The beginning of the new lunar Hijri year coincides with the anniversary of the blessed migration of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) to Medina, as well as the unforgettable tragedy that occurred in the first decade of this month, affecting the descendants of the noble Messenger of Islam.
Taking this opportunity, I extend my heartfelt wishes to all Muslims, especially the dear and esteemed Muslims of Sri Lanka, for a fruitful and successful year, and I hope the beautiful and historic country of Sri Lanka to be freed from its economic challenges.
