COLOMBO : As we bid farewell to a challenging year and welcome the dawning of a new one, I am cautiously optimistic about tghe future. We have experienced a tumultuous period characterized by adversity and uncertainty, but we have also witnessed the remarkable resilience and strength of our people. It is this resilience that gives me immense confidence that, together, we can overcome any obstacle and achieve our true potential.
The past few years have seen our nation confront various economic challenges, but amidst the difficulties, we have seen the potential of a brighter tomorrow.. Today, as we acknowledge the efforts made by our citizens, it is also a time to celebrate the unwavering determination and commitment of Sri Lankans towards rebuilding a strong and prosperous nation.
To fully capitalize on this potential, we must commit ourselves to meaningful reforms and realistic policies. This requires a collective effort from all sectors of society—government, business, civil society, and individuals. By aligning our efforts and working together synergistically, we can create an environment that fosters sustainable growth and prosperity for all.
A key element of our collective success lies in our ability to embrace diversity. Sri Lanka prides itself on its rich cultural heritage and the diversity that characterizes our society. It is this very diversity that makes us unique and positions us to harness the richness of different perspectives, talents, and ideas. By valuing and promoting inclusivity, we will not only build a more harmonious society but also unlock the full potential of our nation.
In the coming year, let us renew our commitment to unity, understanding, and respect for one another. Let us embrace diversity as a strength rather than a source of division.
As we embark on this new chapter, let us forge ahead with renewed determination and optimism. Let us stay committed to working together, transcending differences, and embracing the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. Together, we can navigate the path to progress, achieve our true potential, and make Sri Lanka a beacon of hope and prosperity.
May the New Year bring us closer to our dreams and aspirations as we build a stronger, more inclusive Sri Lanka.
With hope and gratitude,
M U M Ali Sabry
