COLOMBO : The Liberal Youth Movement had the honor of participating in the third session of the “Meet the Ambassador” program, where its officials had the privilege of engaging with Tareq Md Ariful Islam, the High Commissioner of Bangladesh to Sri Lanka.
The evening was rich with discussions on the economic, social, and political landscapes of Bangladesh, offering us profound insights into the collaborative opportunities and similarities between our nations.
The session shed light on several key areas, including Bangladesh’s efforts towards fostering an open economy, the critical role of foreign investment, and the necessity of social and political stability. The high participation of women in politics, especially those in significant roles, and the government’s commitment to the economic and educational empowerment of women.
As young liberals, the focus has always been on understanding the intricacies of how democracy functions, the importance of legal frameworks in maintaining checks and balances on power, and the essence of diplomacy.
