NEGOMBO : The Negombo police arrested a man who had stolen a three-wheeler and two motorcycles to play gambling in his hometown.
The suspect, library assistant in school, was arrested in the Light Mall junction in the Negombo Town.
The gambler was arrested by a special team of policemen comprising Inspector Indika Kumara, Sampath Dissanayake and Senior Superintendent of Police Saman Sigera.
The Police seized the two motorcycles and a three-wheeler stolen by the suspect.
The suspect was involved in stealing motorcycles and three-wheeler parked in front of financial institutions and government offices and encash them to continue his gambling habit.
He had stolen the motorcycles and three-wheelers parked near the Chilaw Sampath Bank, the Mirigama Tamikkaramaya temple and the Gampaha court.
The investigation has revealed that he was involved in gambling by making use of the cash sales of his stolen vehicles.
A 35-year old man is from Devalapola and attached to a school in Veyangoda, Hurikoduwa.
