High Commissioner of Maldives to Sri Lanka H.E. Masood Imad Presents Credentials to the President of Sri Lanka

High Commissioner Masood Imad expressed his profound honor upon his appointment and noted that he is deeply aware of the trust and responsibility entrusted to him by His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, President of the Republic of Maldives, to serve as the representative in Sri Lanka.
High Commissioner Masood Imad reiterated his commitment to strengthen the historic and special bond that unites the two nations, adding that he will work tirelessly to enhance bilateral relations. He emphasized that Sri Lanka is not only an invaluable partner in the socioeconomic development of the Maldives but also a cherished second home for many Maldivians, including himself.
High Commissioner Masood Imad also conveyed greetings from President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer and the people of Maldives to the President and the people of Sri Lanka. President Ranil Wickremesinghe congratulated High Commissioner Masood Imad on the assumption of his duties as High Commissioner of Maldives to Sri Lanka. Wishing success in his tenure, President Ranil Wickremesinghe assured High Commissioner Masood Imad that he would be fully committed to enhance Maldives – Sri Lanka relations and will extend their full support during his tenure.
His Excellency Minister of Foreign Affairs Moosa Zameer Official Visit to Sri Lanka

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Moosa Zameer made an official visit to Sri Lanka from 3-6 June 2024. The visit aimed to enhance bilateral ties between the Maldives and Sri Lanka.
During his visit, Minister Zameer paid courtesy calls on President Ranil Wickremesinghe, Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena and reaffirmed his commitment to further strengthen the already strong relations between the two countries.
Foreign Minister Zameer also held official talks with his counterpart, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka Ali Sabry, and reviewed the existing relations between the two countries and explored avenues for further cooperation.
Minister Zameer visited the High Commission of Maldives in Sri Lanka and also interacted with the Maldivian Community residing in Sri Lanka.
Dr. Mohamed Muizzu sworn in as President of the Maldives

Dr. Mohamed Muizzu took the oath of office as the 8th President of the Republic of Maldives on Friday, 17 November 2023. At a ceremony held at Jumhooree Maidaan (Republic Square), Dr. Muizzu was sworn in by the Chief Justice of the Republic of Maldives, Honourable Uz. Ahmed Muthasim Adnan.
Following the swearing in of the President, Mr. Hussain Mohamed Latheef was sworn in as the Vice President of the Republic of Maldives. The ceremony was attended by His Excellency Ranil Wickremesinghe, President of Sri Lanka, and other dignitaries from 48 countries and many international organisations.
Moosa Zameer sworn in as the new Minister of Foreign Affairs of Maldives

His Excellency Moosa Zameer was sworn in at a ceremony held at the President’s Office following the swearing in of His Excellency Dr. Mohamed Muizzu as the 8th President of the Republic of Maldives. His Excellency Zameer previously served as the Minister of Tourism of the Republic of Maldives from 28 October 2015 to 17 November 2018. He also served as a member of the Economic Council of the Maldives during the same period. His Excellency Zameer also served as a Member of Parliament from 2009 to 2014.
