

COLOMBO : The Maldivian Minister for Foreign Affairs Moosa Zameer and his Sri Lankan Counterpart M.U.M. Ali Sabry addressed the media on Wednesday (5th June 2024) highlighting the close collaboration between the two countries. Zameer mentioned that Maldives and Sri Lanka share a strong and historic relationship based on mutual trust, respect and understanding. He added that the two ministers discussed further enhancement bilateral relations in the areas of mutual interest, including economic cooperation, health, education, fisheries, youth and sports, and social protection.
Minister said ” It was good to meet with the Maldivian Foreign MinisOur discussion centered around further strengthening our excellent bilateral relations, specially in the areas of economic cooperation, health, education, fisheries, youth and sports & social protection. Sri Lanka and the Maldives share a strong bond built on longstanding trust and friendship, and I am confident that this relationship will be further strengthened in the years to come.”
Zameer is on a three day visit to Sri Lanka during which he is scheduled to pay courtesy calls on President Ranil Wickremesinghe and Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena.
Earlier last month, Mr. Zameer paid an official visit to New Delhi and held discussions on bilateral and regional issues of mutual interest with India’s External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar.
