COLOMBO:The Quarantine Curfew is expected to be lifted next week, but the final decision will be taken by the COVID-19 Task Force after closely monitoring the situation, Co-Cabinet Spokesman Minister Dr. Ramesh Pathirana said.
Responding to a question by a journalist at the weekly Cabinet media briefing held yesterday at the Government Information Department, As a result of the Quarantine Curfew and the successful vaccination programme, Sri Lanka can expect a further drop in daily COVID-19 cases and deaths by end September,” he said.
Commenting on the impact of the Quarantine Curfew on small scale businessmen and informal sector workers, Dr. Pathirana said, “The Government has to balance the health situation and the economic activities. That is why we have allowed some economic activities within the country without interruption. We have decided to keep the Economic Centres open and those involved in the agricultural and plantation industries and the export industries have been allowed to continue their work.(CDN)
