COLOMBO : Attorney General Dappula De Livera on Monday informed the Court of Appeal that the CID has not prevented attorneys from accessing Attorney-at-Law Hejaaz Hizbullah while being detained under CID custody.
Additional Solicitor General Susantha Balapatabendi made these remarks when a writ petition filed on behalf of detained Attorney-at-Law Hejaaz Hizbullah was taken up for hearing.
A Court of Appeal two-judge-bench comprising Justice Priyantha Fernando and Justice Sobhitha Rajakaruna fixed the petition for further hearing for today (15).
Attorney-at-Law Chalana Rangana Perera filed this petition seeking access to Hizbullah who is being detained under CID custody in connection with the Easter Sunday attack.
The Petitioner stated that the lawyers of Hizbullah were given access to him only on four occasions and officers of the CID were present on all occasions sitting in on the meetings between the Lawyers and Hizbullah.
