COLOMBO : Basil Rajapaksa, Minister of Finance told foreign ambassador on Wednesday July 14 that his country will follow a Non-Aligned Policy and be friendly with all countries.
The new finance minister was addressing foreign envoys based in Colombo to apprise them of the government’s policies mooted by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa and Premier Mahinda Rajapaksa .
Ambassadors and High Commissioners from seven countries were present during discussions. Among the diplomats who met were ambassadors of the United States, China, India, Russia, the United Kingdom, Germany and the European Union, as well as officals from government agencies.
Various issues affecting Sri Lanka became the theme of the discussions.
The minister said Sri Lanka has focused on creating a green economy and seeks support for the Renewable Energy Promotion Program. He pointed out that the government is focusing on upgrading the infrastructure required for the development of the transport sector in an environmentally friendly manner while minimizing fuel consumption.
The envoys pledged to help Sri Lanka control the pandemic as well as seize to make use of the investment opportunities in Sri Lanka.
