COLOMBO : THE Sri Lanka U20 7s outfit will compete at the Asia Rugby U20 7s Championship 2025, scheduled to be held in Bihar, India in August.
After a couple of rigorous rounds of selection, a 15-man Sri Lanka Junior Tuskers Team was announced for the Championship. The Championship will be worked off at Bihar, India on August 9-10 2025.
The team boasts of a number of talented players from the 2024 School Rugby Season.
The Junior Tuskers will be led by Shaahid Zumri. The youngster who is no stranger to the Asian Rugby circuit, has already made his mark on the international stage. The former Vice Captain of Isipathana College, who currently plays for Kandy SC, will look to bring in his experience to the team to achieve success.
He will be assisted by Pasindu Bandara as the Vice Captain of the team. Bandara came into the limelight after his dream season with St. Peter’s College in 2024, where he was simply unstoppable in open play. Having already represented the National XVs outfit, Bandara will play a pivotal role in the team.

Shamly Nawaz will be the Head Coach of the outfit. The Isipathanian has coached multiple teams in the local circuit, both schools and clubs. He is also the current Head Coach of the Sri Lanka Women’s Rugby 7s Team and is a World Rugby Level 3 Coach and educator.
He will have Saliya Handapangoda as his assistant. The former Navy Wing-Three Quarter has represented the country in 7s, and will look to bring in his experiences to the system.
