COLOMBO : Sri Lanka recorded the highest single-day spike in coronavirus cases on Tuesday (April 27) as 422 more persons were tested positive for the virus, the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) revealed.
The daily cases count surpassed the grim milestone of 1,000 for the first time since the outbreak of the pandemic last year.
Sri Lanka has thus registered a total of 1,096 fresh cases of coronavirus within the day while the cumulative cases tally touched 103,472.
