ALI SABRY
COLOMBO : Born 93 years ago, Lakshman Kadirgamar was more than a brilliant lawyer and statesman, he was a visionary who dreamed of a united Sri Lanka, where every citizen, regardless of race or religion, could live with dignity, equality, and pride.
He believed that our diversity was not a weakness but our greatest strength. With unmatched eloquence and fierce conviction, he carried Sri Lanka’s voice to the world and reminded us, time and again, that unity is the foundation upon which nations are built.
At a time when division and suspicion threatened to tear us apart, Kadirgamar stood for principle, reconciliation, and country above all else.
As we remember him today, let us renew our resolve to build the Sri Lanka he dreamed of, a land where all communities live in peace, prosperity, and unity, bound not by ethnicity or religion, but by our shared love for this island we call home.
Let his life be our call to action. Let his sacrifice not be in vain. ( The writer is the former foreign minister of Sri Lanka)
