COLOMBO: The KPMG Sri Lanka Academy presents the 22nd virtual session of the “Friday Mid-Afternoon Chat” series on 30th July 2021. This week’s webinar will focus on “Introduction to Relative Valuations” conducted by Ajantha Weerasekara – Principal, Advisory, KPMG Sri Lanka.
“Relative valuation models is a method used to value companies by comparing them to other businesses (competitors or industry peers) based on certain metrics. This is an alternative to absolute value models which determines a company’s intrinsic worth, without any reference to another company/industry. The application of the model would depend on certain criteria’s and it’s important that one is knowledgeable on how your business could be valued” says Ajantha Weerasekara.
Ajantha is an alumnus of the London Business School, where he holds a Masters degree in finance. He is an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, UK (ACMA), a CFA Chartered Holder, a Professional Member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors, UK (MRICS), and also holds a B.Sc. in finance (first class) from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka.
The presentation would cover introduction to Relative Valuations, types of relative valuations, Earnings based methods, Balance sheet based methods, Peer group multiples vs Transactions multiples, key considerations when using Relative Valuation methods etc.
The session is scheduled on the 30th of July (Friday) from 3.00 PM onwards.
