COLOMBO ; The Attorney General has filed indictments before the Permanent Trial-at-Bar of the Colombo High Court against former Health Minister Keheliya Rambukwella and eleven other individuals in connection with the unauthorized distribution of non-standard immunoglobulin vials within the country’s hospital system.
The indictment comprises 13 separate charges and was submitted before the three-member bench of High Court Judges Mahen Weeraman, Amali Ranawera, and Pradeep Abeyratne.
The charges pertain to a conspiracy to misappropriate Rs. 144.4 million in public funds through the supply of 6,195 vials of non-medicinal substances labeled as Human Immunoglobulin and Rituximab to the Medical Supplies Division of the Ministry of Health.
According to the indictment, the prosecution intends to present approximately 350 witnesses and around 300 evidence material during the trial.
