
KANDY : The Kandy Mosque Federation extended a powerful message of solidarity and humanitarian compassion by donating Rs. 2 Million on Tuesday , 8th April to the Ambassador of the State of Palestine in Colombo Ihab I.M. Khalil .
This donation marks the second phase of a campaign that began with a contribution of Rs. 2.5 Million in April 2024. The funds raised through collective efforts across Mosques in Kandy reflect the deep-rooted empathy and unity of the local Muslim community with those facing oppression and humanitarian crisis abroad.
The donation was presented as an expression of support for the Palestinian people amidst their ongoing struggles for freedom, dignity, and justice.
A delegation from the Federation, including KRA Siddeek (President), Mr. NMM Mansoor (Secretary), Ash sheik Faiz (Deputy President), Reeza Wahid (Vice President), and Ash sheik Zacky (Assistant Secretary), together with Hon. Afzal Marikar, Honorary Consul for Pakistan in Sri Lanka, formally handed over the contribution to the Ambassador of the State of Palestine in Colombo.
The Federation’s donation serves as a reminder of the power of unity and humanitarian action and calls on the international community to stand together for peace and human dignity, Sideek said in a statement to Colombo Times on Tuesday.
