COLOMBO — A government delegation headed by Minister of Justice and National Integration Harshana Nanayakkara, comprising Deputy Minister of Religious and Cultural Affairs Muneer Mulaffer and Deputy Speaker Dr. Rizvie Salih, met with the All Ceylon Jamiyyathul Ulama (ACJU) at its headquarters in Colombo,in Colombo on Sunday August 9 and provided an extensive briefing on the reforms currently being implemented in the judicial and prison sectors.
At the meeting, which was attended by the head of the Jamiyyathul Ulama Ash Sheik M.I.M. Rizvi Mufthi, its General Secretary Ash-Sheikh Arkam Nooramith and members of its Executive Council, steps were taken to brief the council on the government’s current progress while addressing false information presently circulating in society regarding the judicial system.,
Speaking to the press following the meeting, Justice Minister said it was a useful discussion which helped the two parties to understand each other’s views and helped them to go further in addressing the problems of the Muslim community for a peaceful coexistence.
Deputy Minister mulaffer said to there was a lot wide range of discussions held covering the needs and aspirations of the Muslim community .
