COLOMBO : Visiting delegation from the European Union had discussions with Justice Minister Ali Sabry at the ministry headquarters in Colombo on Tuesday,Sept.28
The Minister briefed EU officials on the current state of the legal framework in the judiciary, the digitization of the judiciary, the development of infrastructure required for expeditious disposal of cases as well as the increase in the number of courts, the increase in the number of judges and the amendment of the Constitution.
The EU officials then responded positively to the current situation in Sri Lanka and the progress of the Government’s program, stating that they were satisfied with the current situation in Sri Lanka and would look into all possible concessions in the future.
Mr. Priyantha Mayadunne, Attorney-at-Law, Secretary to the Ministry of Justice, Mr. Janaka Ranatunga, Attorney-at-Law, Private Secretary to the Minister of Justice and several officials representing the Ministry of Justice were also present on this occasion.
