COLOMBO — Special Inter Religious Prayers were held at Temples, Kovils, Mosques and Churches Island=wide on Saturday 8th May to prevent the country and its people from the pandemic.
The events were organized on a request made by Ministry of Buddha Sasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs to protect our country and the people of Sri Lanka from the COVID 19 pandemic.
The Muslim Unit of the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation,SLBC, broadcast the programme live before the Ifthar on Saturday.
Islamic Religious Prayers were held at the Kollupitiya Jumma Mosque and Coordinator to Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapakses Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs, Dr. Ash Seyed Hafil Hassan Moulana conducted the prayers.
Also Ash Sheik H. Omardeen and Ash Sheik M. Farood conducted prayers in Sinhala and Tamil Languages.
Governor of the Uva Provincial Council A.J.M. Muzammil, Ministry of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs Coordinating Secretary Farzan Munsoor, Department of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs Director A.B.M. Ashroff, and Kollupitiya Jumma Mosque Trustee Muslim Salahudeen were also present.
