DUBAI: The competition for the 4th team for the IPL 2021 play offs is now wide open with Punjab Kings (PBKS) sealing a win against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) IPL 2021 and moving up to 5th position above Mumbai Indians. PBKS reached the target set by KKR in the last over with only 3 balls to spare thanks to power hitting by Shah Rukh Khan who hit 2 Sixes and a boundary in his match winning cameo of 22 runs.
Earlier today PBKS won the toss and decided to bowl first. KKR set a target of 165 for the loss of 7 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Opening batsman V. Iyer contributed with 67 runs and was supported Rahul Tripati with 34 runs and Nitish Rana with 31 runs. Arshadeep Singh took 3 wickets for PBKS
Punjab Kings chasing 165 had a solid opening partnership of 70 runs. Agarawal contributed 40 runs and captain KL Rahul batted till the last over for 67 runs. It is the batting fire power of Shahrukh Khan (22 runs off 9 balls) that powered PBKS to a win by 5 wickets by reaching 168 for 5 wickets. Varun Chakravarthy bowled well for KKR and took 2 wickets for 24 runs. KL Rahul was named the man of the match for his 67 runs off 55 balls. KL Rahul is also the orange cup owner currently with the highest aggregate runs in IPL 2021.
