SRINAGAR- The wife of an Indian Army Havildar who was “stripped half-naked and brutally beaten” by a group of people was admitted to a hospital in Tamil Nadu state in India.
Keerthi, Indian Army Havildar Prabhakaran’s wife, told Indian media that there were around 40 men and they had kicked her in the chest and snatched her mangalsutra and the underbelly in Thiruvannamalai district of the state.
In an exclusive interview with an Indian media outlet, the Havildar’s wife, Keerthi (28) said around 40 men entered her shop on June 10 and demanded her to vacate the place. She said they tried to pull her out of the shop as she tried to go inside. “They pulled me out and assaulted me. I was kicked in the chest and underbelly,” said Keerthi, adding that the attackers also snatched her phone and mangalsutra.
Keerthi was admitted to a hospital after sustaining injuries from the attack.
The Indian Army Havildar Prabhakaran, who is currently deployed in IIOJKr, posted a video saying his wife was beaten up by 120 men who also threw the shop’s items. “They have attacked and threatened my family with knives. My wife was stripped half-naked and brutally beaten,” he said in the video.
The police also denied Prabhakaran’s statement that his wife suffered grievous injuries.
Keerthi said that the police wrote their “own version” of the incident in the complaint copy. She said that, unlike the police’s statement, her brother Jeeva had only tried to protect her and she currently has no knowledge of what happened to her father and brother.KMS
