COLOMBO : Beloved step mother of former minister and present parliamentarian, Imtiaz Bakeer Markar, passed away peacefully in her hometown of Beruwela on Wednesday,April 5.
The deceased, Jezeela Markar is the wife of former speaker of the parliament Bakeer Markar and beloved sister of former Principal of Zahira College,Colombo,Shafie Marikar.
The funeral took place at the burial grounds of Abraar Masjid in Maradana, Beruwela on Wednesday evening. Abraar masjid was the first mosque to be built in Sri Lanka by early Arab settlers to the island.
The funeral took place in the presence of a limited crowd under quarantine regulations.
