COLOMBO – The 18th Annual Prize Giving Ceremony of Hejaaz International School, “ Celebration of Excellence ” was held at the Bishops College Auditorium recently.
The Prize Giving Ceremony is one of the key events organized by the school. This year’s Prize Giving Ceremony was being held for the academic year 2021 – 2022 after a lapse of three years due to the pandemic.
The Ceremony was graced by Anuruddha Karunatilaka, Global Chief Technology Officer at Intrepid Travel. Karunatilaka in his address, spoke about Artificial Intelligence and the influence it will have on our future generations. His take on the topic was enthralling as he spoke about how the power of Artificial Intelligence can be harnessed to create a more sustainable world. The young minds present were urged to think of Artificial Intelligence technology as a powerful tool and not as a threat to their future. A tool that could be used to make positive impacts, solve problems and bring about major changes in many spheres.
A special award of appreciation was given to Ms. Tharika Weediyagoda for completing a decade of dedicated service at the Girls’ section of Hejaaz International School.
The ceremony was concluded with the presentation of the most prestigious award, “Hejaaz-ite of the Year” to a carefully chosen candidate. Ismail Hashim Rifhan for the year 2020, Aamina Haniffa for the year 2021, and Yaqub Fazal for the year 2023 .
