The Institute of Digital Media & Journalism (IDMJ), in collaboration with the National Youth Services Council (NYSC) under the Youth Link Sri Lanka Youth Exchange Initiative, successfully conducted a Leadership Capacity-Building Programme titled “Ethical Leadership & Responsibility” on 14th December 2025 at the Colombo Divisional Secretariat Auditorium, Dam Street, Colombo.
The programme was organized under the theme “Renewed Spirit – Phase 12” and was designed for the youth of the Trincomalee District who joined Urban Youth (Colombo) through the NYSC Youth Exchange Programme. The initiative aimed to promote ethical values, leadership responsibility, and national integration among young participants.
Approximately 60 students actively participated in the programme, engaging in interactive discussions and leadership-focused learning sessions.
The Chief Guest of the event was Razmi Rafeek, Chief Advisor of IDMJ. The resource person for the programme was Irfan Nasoorudeen, Corporate Human Resources & Development Consultant, who delivered an insightful session on ethical leadership, responsibility, and personal development.
The programme was joined by the Western Province Assistant Director of NYSC and Mr. Channa Gunarathna, Assistant Director of the Urban Youth District (Colombo), representing the National Youth Services Council.
Adding further significance to the event, Fawzil Abdul Rahuman, National Development Chairman of the National Federation of Youth Clubs, was also present and addressed the participants, emphasizing the role of youth in national development and ethical leadership.
Representing IDMJ, Umair Nawshad, Executive Director & CEO, Zamil Shafeek, Administrative Director, Zahra Rizmie, Chief Coordinator,Musharaf Hussain, Media Coordinator, and. Abdul Azeez Sakar, Sports Affairs Coordinator, actively participated in and supported the successful execution of the programme.
At the conclusion of the event, certificates of participation were awarded to all participants in recognition of their engagement and successful completion of the leadership capacity-building programme.
