

COLOMBO : The Institute of Digital Media & Journal ism (IDMJ), in collaboration with the Colombo Muslim Undergraduates Association (CMUA), successfully hosted a Felicitation and Freshers’ Welcome Ceremony for newly selected state university students on Saturday September 20 at Sri Lanka Press Institute Auditorium Colombo.
The event brought together nearly 85 students from across Colombo district who have gained admission to prestigious faculties such as Indigenous Medicine, Law, Humanities & Social Sciences, Medicine, Arts, Management, Commerce, and Engineering in universities including Colombo, Sabaragamuwa, Moratuwa, Wayamba, Kelaniya, Sri Jayewardenepura, Jaffna, and others.
CMUA undergraduates conducted interactive and educational sessions to prepare the freshers for university life.
The ceremony was held under the leadership of CMUA President Mr. Iyad Khan, IDMJ Administrative Director Mr. Zamil Shafeek, and IDMJ Executive Director Mr. Umair Nawshad, with strong coordination from their teams. The IDMJ Team took a leading role in organizing the event with the patronage and guidance of IDMJ Supreme Advisor Dr. Irshad Jabir, PhD, whose continued support played a key role in the success of the program.
Hon. Kaleelur Rahman, Member of the Colombo Municipal Council, graced the occasion as Chief Guest. Guests of Honour included Mr. Ruzaik Farook (Freelance Journalist, ANCL), Mr. Farhath Siddique (Treasurer, Maligawatte Masjid Federation), and Mr. Razmi Rafeek (Chief Advisor, IDMJ).
Dr. Chandhima Wijegunawardhana, PhD, delivered an inspiring guest lecture.
Notable contributors included CMUA Executive Committee members, Miss Zahra Rizmie (IDMJ Chief Coordinator), Umair Ali Sarjoon (IDMJ Event Coordinator), Ashfaq Zawmy (IDMJ Coordinator), and the IDMJ Organizing Team, including photographers, videographers, and the media crew.
