ABU DHABI: Super 12s – England proved why they were tagged as one of the favorites to win the T20 this year with an all-round powerful performance to beat Bangladesh by 8 wickets.
Bangladesh winning the toss decided to bat first and were in shock by the disciplined English bowling attack and only was able to score less than 30 runs in the power play for the loss of 3 wickets. Mushfiqur Rahim’s contribution of 29 runs allowed Bangladesh to score 124 for 9 wickets off 20 overs.
The Englishmen were in a hurry to finish the match with Jason Roy’s powerful batting of 61 runs off 38 balls (five boundaries and 3 sixers). England reached 126 for the loss of only 2 wickets in the 14th over.
England has won both the matches they played and lead Group 1 with 4 points followed by Sri Lanka with 2 points. Bangladesh and West Indies have played 2 matches, with no wins.
Jason Roy was named the player of the match for his power hitting entertainment in an overall one-sided match. (RZ)
