COLOMBO : Prime Minister advises to Reenact “Fishing Villages” Hon Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa has instructed the State Minister of Rural Housing and Construction & Building Material Industries Promotion Hon. Indika Anuruddha during a discussion today (16.08.2021) to develop the “Fishing Villages” initiated during his tenure as the Minister of Fisheries.
During the period, more than 60 fishing villages were developed along the coastal line and in the neighborhood of fishing lakes throughout the island.
The Prime Minister stated that necessary arrangements should be made to improve, develop and, maintain these fishing villages and to provide relief to the people living in those villages.
State Minister Hon. Indika Anuruddha told the Prime Minister’s Media Division that he was instructed by the Prime Minister to prepare a proposal for the 2022 budget to provide relief to these communities. The Prime Minister has also instructed the State Minister to look into the possibility of starting new housing projects in these fishing communities.
