COLOMBO :The Meteorology Department says showers or thundershowers will occur at times in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and Southern provinces. Several spells of showers may occur in North-western province on Saturday,June 1.
Heavy showers above 100 mm are likely at some places in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Galle, Matara and Nuwara-Eliya districts.
Showers or thundershowers may occur at a few places in Uva, North-central and Eastern provinces and in Mullaitivu district in the evening or night.
General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
Sea Areas:
The sea areas off the coasts extending from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota can be very rough at times. The sea areas off the coasts extending from Kankasanthurai to Matara via Mannar, Puttalam, Colombo and Galle can be rough at times.
Waves heights may increase (about 2.0–2.5 m) in the sea areas off the coast extending from Kalpitiya to Pottuvil via Colombo, Galle, and Hambantota (this is not for land area).
Naval and fishing communities are also requested to be attentive in this regard.
Temporarily strong gusty winds and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers.
