COLOMBO : On the holy occasion of Eid-Ul-Adha, the Festival of Sacrifice, on behalf of the Government and the people of Bangladesh and on my own behalf, I wish the friendly people of Sri Lanka all the happiness, peace and prosperity. I also wish our Muslim brothers and sisters in Sri Lanka a blessed Eid. Sacrificing one’s material possessions and sacrificing one’s ego are the teachings of Eid-Ul-Adha. All other religions and beliefs also share, preach, and practice similar concepts. The spirit of sacrifice, if practised, can rid our lives, societies, countries, and the world at large of all the hostilities, restlessness, turmoils, and conflicts. Let us pledge to uphold this high ideal to make our world a better place.
