COLOMBO – University of Batticaloa which was occupied by the Army was officially handed over to the founder of the University of Batticaloa, former Governor MLA M Hizbullah.
After the Easter bombings on April 21, 2019, the Campus was taken over by the military and was under the full control of the military.
Following the request made by the founder of Batticaloa University College, former Governor MLAM Hizbullah, to President Ranil Wickremesinghe, the soldiers officially handed over the University College.
Hizbullah told Colombo Times that he is very happy that he got back the whole campus on a recommendation from President Ranil Wickremesinghe .
The campus was built on funds received from Saudi philanthropists and now he would continue to work to make it a full-fledged campus .
