COLOMBO : Patients are facing severe disruptions as the strike by the Government Medical Officers’ Association continues, leaving many without treatment.
GMOA Secretary, Dr. Prabath Sugathadasa, said the strike, in protest of the transfer process, spares children’s hospitals, maternity hospitals, cancer hospitals, military hospitals, kidney disease hospitals, and mental health institutions.
He added that the executive council will decide today whether the strike will continue.
The GMOA had earlier staged a token strike last Tuesday, citing concerns over the ongoing transfer process.
The Specialist Doctors’ Association announced that it will not support the ongoing strike by the GMOA.
Its General Secretary, R. Gnanasekaram, confirmed that all specialist doctors will remain on duty as usual today. News first
