Colombo The Supreme Council Of Sufi Thareeqas (SCOT) has urged the Muslim community to be cautious and calm , in the light of an incident witnessed recently in the Negombo area.
In a press release issued on Friday, May 13 it said : “ given the success in strengthening the unity seen among all communities in the recent months in the country, we find certain elements trying to bring out the ugly face of disunity and communal disharmony .
Please act with restraint and patience.
Our teachings from the Sunna of our Prophet (sal) is to bear with challenges and stay peaceful among our communities. we must continue to uphold the unity & harmony that has been cultivated among our brothers & sisters of all faiths.
It is important we share this message among all our Muslim fraternity.
Let us ensure our youth in particular behave in a calm and sedate manner. lets not have our emotions driving us, but our kindness and tolerance being our fortitude.
All trustees of Masjids and Imams , please ensure our “ Jummah Sermons “ talk about behaving with restraint and not being alluded to any violent or wrongful acts in public places. may Allah guide us with compassion and wisdom”
