COLOMBO :The Free Palestine Movement of Sri Lanka organised two events to coincide and commemorate the 500th day since the current Israeli Genocide began in October 2023.
This was in addition to awareness campaigns about the boycott of Israeli funded products and choosing local alternatives and meeting with the Foreign Minister, Mr. Vijitha Herath, to hand over a letter along with over 600 signatures, expressing concerns about the Zionist invasion of Sri Lanka.
The first event was a protest outside the US Embassy on Feb. 18 by calling out Donald Trump and his puppet Elon Musk, for their atrocious statements of wanting to take over Gaza and clean out Gaza, by sending Palestinians to other countries. Donald Trump came to the presidency saying he will end the war. But what we see is the total opposite. At the end of the protest a letter was handed over by the Free Palestine Movement members addressed to the Ambassador Ms. Julie Chung.
That same evening another event was organised at the restaurant Dolci Falasteen, on Havelock Road. This was the screening of the recent documentary entitled When Olive Trees Weep. Participants made a minimum contribution of Rs. 1000 to watch this very enlightening and powerful film. The money raised will be donated to relief efforts in Palestine.
The Free Palestine Movement for keeps alive the lives of the Palestinians amid the ongoing killing and bombing that is still taking place In Gaza and the West Bank, in spite of a ceasefire activated in January.
