COLOMBO : Ibrahim Hamid,78, an outstanding old boy of Zahira College Colombo during the period of former Principal Dr.A.M.A Azeez,passed away on Thursday evening , August 19, evening in Colombo.
His funeral arrangements will be notified later.
During his career at College, he was a member of Cadet Platoon and represented college at Rugby. He was also the senior prefect in the college.
He was Senior Superintendent of Police, Represented Sri Lanka at Rugby and Rifle Shooting, former Chairman of Board of Governors Zahira College, former Trustee Colpetty Jumma Mosque and held many other important positions.
During his police career, he was the personal body guard of former Sri Lankan President J.R. Jayawardena and retired as a senior superintendent of the police.He was involved in the SLRFU rugby administration since his retirement in the early 90 s serving as a rugby selector .council member disciplinary committee chairman ,referees society his son eldest is former royalist cricketer Zulker Hamid.
