COLOMBO — The people of Borella Electorate distributed food packs to the Victoria Elders Home, Rajagiriya to mark the 101st birth anniversary of former speaker and Minister, late M. H. Mohamed on June 15. Buddhist and Islamic religious leaders including son of M.H. Mohamed and Former Western Provincial Councilor S. H. Mohamed were also present.
Mohamed who had been in the parliament for more than 2 decades, has been the speaker, minister and a great social worker who dedicated his life to cause of human beings without any racial or political differences.
He was one of the founders of the constituent council of the Makkah-based Muslim World League and also founded the Islamic Center in Sri Lanka. He was also responsible for a number of scholarships given to Sri Lankans for their university education in the island.
