COLOMBO — The people of Borella Electorate distributed food packs to the Victoria Elders Home, Rajagiriya to mark the 102nd birth anniversary of former speaker and Minister late M. H. Mohamed on Thursday, June 15.
Buddhist and Islamic religious leaders including son pf the late M. H. Mohamed Former Mayor of Colombo and one-time Ambassador of Saudi Arabia Hussain Mohamed were also present.
Mohamed who had been in the parliament for more than two decades, has been the speaker, minister and a great social worker who dedicated his life to the cause of human beings without any racial or political differences.
He was one of the founders of the constituent council of the Makkah-based Muslim World League and also founded the Sri Lanka Islamic Center in Sri Lanka. He was also responsible for a number of scholarships given to Sri Lankans for their university education in the island.
