Former diplomat Ansar to become Director of Muslim Religious, Cultural Affairs

COLOMBO : Veteran diplomat, who was the former Additional Secretary to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ibrahim Sahib Ansar assumed duties as the Director of the Department of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs in the presence of Justice Minister Ali Sabry on Thursday, Oct.21.
The department comes under the purview of Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa.
Ansar, retired from the country’s overseas service, counts decades of experience in the foreign services and had served as the island’s ambassador in Oman, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Malaysia.
Ansar, a lawyer by profession, hails from Mannar and an old boy of Errukalampiddy Central College.
He succeeds the former director M.B.M Ashraff who was transferred from office three months ago
