
COLOMBO : Foreign minister Vijitha Herath welcomed the visiting Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of the US State Department Nicole Chulick along with the Charge d’Affaires of the US Embassy, Jayne Howell, on Friday, May 22, at the Ministry.
The visiting Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary conveyed the appreciation of the US Government for the enhanced bilateral partnership between Sri Lanka and the US following the election of President Disanayaka.
Both parties discussed ways to progress the relations between our countries in multiple areas of activity.
The minister conveyed the appreciation of the Government of Sri Lanka for the grant of 10 Bell helicopters and the fourth Coast Guard Cutter from the US.
Herath also briefed Ms Chulick and the delegation on developments taking place in Sri Lanka following cyclone Ditwah and the efforts taken by the Government to meet current challenges emanating from the situation in the Middle East. Both sides commited to furthering the ongoing cooperation and expanding the partnership to new spheres.
