COLOMBO : One of the largest food processing factories in South Asia was opened Saturday at the Katunayake Investment Promotion Zone (IPZ), the Daily Mirror reported here on Sunday
The food processing factory is owned by a local businessman with an investment of Rs.1.5 billion.
The factory is established aiming to meet the 10% of international market requirement for food-related products.
The factory is located on a three-acre land in IPZ at Katunayake.
The factory would provide 300 job opportunities and aiming to produce food products including local traditional food varieties with premium quality and targets to export its products to the Maldives, Middle East Countries and India.
Several Parliamentarians including Namal Rajapaksa, Shasheendra Rajapaksa, Kanchana Wijesekera, D.V Chanaka, Arundika Fernando and Siripala Gampalth participated at the opening ceremony. (T.K.G. Kapila)
