The first MBBS graduate of the Muslim village of Thalgaspitiya, Aranayaka, Dr. Hanana Naseer Hussain who has completed her medical degree at the Fathima Jinnah University of Lahore, Pakistan was given a red carpet welcome by the villagers and her alma mater, Thalgaspitiya Muslim Maha Vidyalaya on 28.09.2023 at the auditorium of Thalgaspitiya M.M.V. Dr. Hanana successfully completed her degree in medicine at Fathima Jinnah University in Lahore in 2022 and then completed a year of internship at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Lahore. Presently she has come back to her village to serve the people.
This ceremony was organized by the Recovery Team, a popular welfare society that is truly committed to developing Thalgaspitiya. This year is a golden moment for Thalgaspitiya as Thalgaspitiya M.M.V. has grabbed the second spot in the A/L results in Tamil Medium in the Kegalle district. There are 13 high achievers who have qualified themselves to get university entrance. Recovery Team that has three main aims namely, Educational Development, Economic upliftment, and the Poverty Alleviation has been closely working with T.M.M.V. and the mosque of this village for the last five years. It has made tremendous contributions in various fields including education giving a rapid progress to this Muslim village that is 10 miles off Mawanella.
The Principal of the school, Mr. C.M.S. Mahboob who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest praised all the high achievers including Dr. Hanana Naseer Hussain who has brought fame to this village to be the first MBBS doctor. M.S.M. Mahir who has come off with flying colours in the recently held A/L examination has been selected to the Medical Faculty adding more pride to himself and the village.
A large number of villagers well-wishers, students and the members of the staff of Thalgaspitiya M.M.V. were presnt at this historic occasion. The President of the Recovery Team .K.M. Hussain, Joint Secretaries A.W. Nasrullah, M.M.M. Fawasil, Treasurer, M.Y.M.Aroos and the working committee of the Recovery Team ware instrumental for the successful completion of this programme.
