COLOMBO : A fire broke out early this morning at the Kajimawatte, Furguson Road in Grandpass has damaged nearly 35 shanties.
Police said the fire had erupted at around 2.40 a.m. and that close to 35 temporary homes built in the area have been either destroyed or partially damaged in the fire .
The fire has been brought under control by fire fighters and police. No casualties were reported from the fire.
Colombo Mayor, Rosy Senanayake who visited the site,has made arrangements to supply all three meals to the people affected by the fire.
Grandpass police are conducting further investigations into the incident.
