COLOMBO : The All Ceylon Egg Producers Association has announced a Rs. 10 reduction in egg prices to counter the dominance of large-scale producers.
Chairperson Navod Sampath Bandara stated that white eggs will now be sold at Rs. 18 and red eggs at Rs. 20.
The Poultry Traders Association warned that arbitrary price cuts could harm market stability.
Professor Idunil Pathirana from the University of Ruhuna stated that steps are being taken, in collaboration with the Department of Animal Production and Health, to export Sri Lanka’s surplus egg production.
