COLOMBO – D. S. Senanayake College will look to produce another giant-killing performance when they take on Wesley College in their Inter-Schools Under-19 Division One League Rugby Tournament match on Sunday at the Royal Sports Complex in Colombo.
The newcomers to ‘A’ Division rugby, D. S
. Senanayake have already signalled a warning to the more established teams by overcoming St. Anthony’s College 23-19 in their opening fixture of the tournament at the Pallekele Stadium in Kandy.
In contrast, the Wesleyites are searching for their first win this season after going down against S. Thomas’ College (13-19) and St. Joseph’s College (0-3) respectively.
Meanwhile, Royal College will look to record their second successive victory when they face Vidyartha College in another Inter-Schools Under-19 Division One League Rugby Tournament match at the Royal Sports Complex in Colombo on Saturday.
This will be Royal’s first home game for the current season having earlier played their opening fixture against St. Peter’s College at Bambalapitiya and last week they took on Science College at Mount Lavinia.
Vidyartha, of course, will be making their first appearance in Colombo this season after having played both their earlier games at the Bogambara Stadium in Kandy where they defeated Science College (26-19) and lost to Trinity College (10-20) respectively.
In addition, Zahira College will look to produce another impressive performance when they take on Science College in their Inter-Schools Under-19 Division One League Rugby Tournament match at Maradana on Saturday.
The Zahirians have already made their presence felt in their return to ‘A’ Division rugby having defeated the favourites Dharmaraja College 18-15 last week at the Bogambara Stadium.
In contrast, Science College will face a tough task to get back into winning ways following two demoralising defeats at the hands of Vidyartha (19-26) and Royal (10-45).
