



COLOMBO — As another step towards enhancing economic relations between Viet Nam and Sri Lanka, a business networking event themed ―Doing Business in Viet Nam‖ was held at the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce on Friday, 31 October 2025. The event was jointly organized by the Embassy of Viet Nam in Sri Lanka and the Sri Lanka–Greater Mekong Business Council of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce. The program brought together leading business representatives, officials, and trade experts to explore avenues for deepening bilateral trade and investment. Key participants of the event included H.E. Trinh Thi Tam, Ambassador of Viet Nam to Sri Lanka, Mr. Nimal Ratnayake, President of the Sri Lanka–Greater Mekong Business Council of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, Dr. Le Thi Mai Anh, Director of the Division of Southeast Asia and South Asia, Ministry of Trade and Industry of Viet Nam, and Ms.Tran Thị Lan Huong, First Secretary of the Viet Nam Trade Office in India. In his welcome remarks, Mr. Nimal Ratnayakeexpressed appreciation to the Embassy of Viet Nam for its initiative in organizing the event. He emphasized the importance of such interactions in sharing information, fostering business connections, and paving the way for stronger economic cooperation between the two countries. Addressing the gathering, the Ambassador of Viet Nam, H.E. Trinh Thi Tam reaffirmed the Embassy’s continued support for Sri Lankan businesses and investors interested in exploring the Vietnamese market. She highlighted Viet Nam’s dynamic economic growth, open investment environment, and its readiness to collaborate with Sri Lankan partners across diverse sectors including manufacturing, agriculture, logistics, and services. The event also featured a presentation highlighting Viet Nam’s business environment and potential areas for Viet Nam–Sri Lanka cooperation, followed by an engaging Q&A session, during which representatives from both sides exchanged views on practical approaches to doing business in Viet Nam and identified areas of mutual interest. Sri Lankan businessmenexplored collaboration prospects in tourism, agriculture, logistics,construction, wastewater management, commodity trading and BOP, amongothers.Theyalsoraised the possiblility of establishing direct flights and negotiatinga bilateral Free Trade Agreement between the two countries. The program concluded with a networking reception, where guests were treated to a selection of authentic Vietnamese dishes prepared by Kim’s Kitchen Vietnamese Restaurant, offering participants a glimpse of Viet Nam’s rich culinary culture alongside its vibrant business potential. This initiative served as a valuable platform for direct dialogue between Vietnamese and Sri Lankan business community
