COLOMBO: Public Security and Tourism Minister Prasanna Ranatunge was refused medical consultation by a Consultant physician in a bid to snub him in support of the ongoing protests against the government.
Prof. Ranil Jayawardena has confirmed social media reports that he refused to treat Minister Prasanna Ranatunga at a private hospital yesterday.
Social media reports claimed that Dr. Jayawardena refused to see minister Ranatunga as a way of showing dissent against the government of ministers responsible for the current crisis in the country.
Speaking to a media institution via telephone, Prof. Jayawardena confirmed these media reports and said that he has the right to see or refuse to see any patient. The authorities of the Lanka Hospitals, where the consultation was fixed, said that the medical consultant reserves the right to accept or refuse a patient since it his private consultation
