COLOMBO: The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation has appealed to the general public to refrain from waiting in line for fuel on Wednesday (18).
Yet, thousands were in line outside filling stations across the country awaiting fuel distribution, and in some cases people have been waiting in line with their vehicles for days.
The Chairman of the CPC said that petrol distribution will be restricted on Wednesday (18). However, petrol will be provided as usual from Thursday 19.
In the meantime, necessary payments will be made for the vessel carrying crude oil, that has reached Sri Lankan waters.
The Chairman of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) Sumith Wijesinghe said that steps will be taken to expedite the payment for furnace and fuel shipments that have also reached Sri Lankan shores
Meanwhile, Litro Gas has requested the general public NOT to wait in line for LP Gas as it was unable to unload the shipment that reached the island on Tuesday (17).
Litro Gas said cited inclement weather as the reason for being unable to unload the shipment.
“There is a delay in distribution, therefore do not remain in queues for LP Gas,” said Litro.
The Chairman of Litro, Eng. Vijitha Herath said a payment of $ 6.5 Million was made for two vessels with LP Gas shipments.
Accordingly, it was planned to distribute 80,00 gas cylinders daily from Wednesday.May 18.
Another ship carrying 3,700 MT of paid gas is scheduled to arrive in Sri Lanka Thursday May 19. (News First)
